The BMW R60US was only produced for two years, 1968-1969, and was based on the R60/2 but featured BMW telescopic forks, considered by many to give a better ride.
This lovely and rare BMW R60US is in original, unmolested condition. It was first registered on the 30th of July 1969 and stayed with its second owner from 1972-2014. The third, and last owner, had the bike from 2014-2023.
Original paint throughout. Matching numbers and Bing carburettors correctly numbered in sequence.
The speedo has 53886km on the clock and considering the condition of the bike, this is the actual mileage.
Mechanically the R60U is superb; the engine is smooth, starts first kick and will immediately settle into a gentle idle. There is an instant response when the throttle is opened up with absolutely no undue noises from the engine, just a smooth running Boxer Twin.
Cosmetically it is in good condition with a lovely patina. The petrol tank has a few minor scratches and a slight fade to the white pinstripe where the knees sit but otherwise the paint presents very lovely indeed. There is a small dent on the top front corner of the left hand side of the petrol tank. Not very visible, it may be pulled out or one could do a repair with filler and then repaint locally and blend in the black paint. A professional painter could do this easily.
The R60US is fitted with beautiful Keihan silencers, identical to the original but manufactured in stainless steel.
A pair of period correct white saddle bags mounted on a sturdy rack comes with the bike. They will bolt on and off in minutes.
