Weitere Informationen

This rare 1938 Gold Star has been off the road since the late 1950s/early 1960s. Confirmed matching numbers. The piston was nipping when it got hot and the owner dismantled the bike. It stayed like this ever since. The cylinder and cylinder head was refurbished, vapour blasted and a new liner fitted in the 2010s but the owner never got around to putting the bike back together again. The Gold Star is therefore in need of a rebuild.

The Gold Star is complete but with some items missing like front fork, front mudguard, rear stand, handlebar + bsa levers and seat.

The engine is complete. The rocker arms are still in place but valves and springs, pushrods etc is kept seperately. The rare, one-year only magnesium gearbox is complete and together, the clutch is in place with primary chain, the front wheel is there. The rear wheel and rear mudguard is there. Original Amal TT carburettor.

Everything is in good condition and it was a running machine when taken apart, so it will come together again rather easily.
The magnesium gearbox is in impeccable condition and shows no signs of deterioration to the magnesium. The original ***** on the frame is in very good condition.

The owner used the original petrol tank toolbox to fit into a larger capacity petrol tank in the 1950s. This larger petrol tank with the original toolbox fitted is still with the bike.

There is also a correct shape BSA petrol tank, however this needs the corrct toolbox fitted. A good engineer should be able to make a very good and correct petrol tank from this tank and the original toolbox. A later BSA telescopic fork was also fitted in the 1950s which is still with the bike.

A very good replica of the correct Gold Star rear stand is available to buy with British Only in Austria.

I believe the Gold Star is a three owner bike. The previous owner had bought it from a colleague in the 1950s, whom in turn had bought it from a family member a couple of years earlier.

Comes with a copy of the original registration document.
